Environmental Reports

At Thungela Resources our Purpose is to responsibly create value together, for a shared future. In building this purpose, we express our unwavering commitment to achieving excellence in safety, health and Environmental (SHE) management. We ensure alignment and comply with the relevant South African laws and regulations. In line with Thungela’s Environmental, Social and Governance Framework priorities, we conduct our business ethically and we are committed to strong governance and transparent and consistent reporting. To this end we acknowledge our auditing obligations under regulation 34 of the Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations 2014, requiring us to make its environmental authorisation and environmental management programme report audits available on our website. Compliance with these regulations requires environmental authorisation (“EA”) holders to:

  • Conduct EA and related environmental management programme / environmental management plan compliance audits in accordance with regulation 34 of the EIA regulations,
  • Notify interested and affected parties (“I&APs”) of the submission of all Regulation 34 Audit reports to competent authorities
  • Make the Regulation 34 Audit reports available to anyone on request: and
  • Place the Regulation 34 Audit reports on a publicly accessible website.
